MT-COT

The MT-COT is Marko Tervonen´s signature guitar based on the 8141P Classic. Marko is founding member of Swedish Death metal band `The Crown` . The MT-COT is a compilation of decades experiences from Marko on top of  the 8141P Classic, retaining the optimized weight, its thickness, the overall balance and the “ultraflowsetneck”. “It feels, looks and plays very solid and you feel the optimized detailed construction and overall finish” Marko confirms when the guitar gets to his hands. “Obviously all graphical and technical wishes are implemented and carried out perfectly. I finally have my personally tweaked Guitar and am super happy with that.”

The MT-COT is a further developed version compared to the 8141P with some major and minor parts that have been changed, modified or left out. The base is an Ash body and Maple neck, which are finished in a gradient paintjob starting transparent white at the body and fading from transparent black to end in nearly pitch black at the headstock. “Seeing through the grain in the white body, makes you feel like looking at a zombie skin with veins laying underneath.” It’s a great subtle detail when you look at it.

The eye catcher is the Front graphic, which is based on the 2024 album cover of The Crown called “Crown Of Thorns”. Initially the band was called “Crown of thorns”, so the back graphic as well as the first fret inlay are based on that.

This guitar has several features which make life easy and includes: an Evertune bridge for flawless and stable “in tune” behavior, D’Addario’s auto trim locking tuners so you never have to cut and manage extra string length with the locking system keeping the strings in place, and the EMG 81 at the bridge is the solid translation of all the shredding sound generated by Marko’s playing.

Marko stated: “I never understood why there isn’t a good system to indicate the battery status when using active pickups like EMG, so while talking about the first ideas on this signature, Schotman Guitars came up with a brilliant, and by now patented, solution and have added a dual LED status system in the Pickup ring only visible for the guitar player when pushing the test button which is integrated in the volume knob. The unique dual LED system gives me instant information on this and is much better than just a single light indicating that I should have changed it, which adds stress when you are on stage.”
